Soft, fluffy burger buns are the foundation of a truly great hamburger. In Poland, homemade buns are becoming more and more popular, especially among home cooks who value real ingredients, fresh bread, and homemade comfort food over store-bought alternatives.
For many Polish families, baking bread at home is deeply rooted in tradition. While classic rolls and loaves are well known, homemade burger buns are a modern extension of this culture — combining traditional yeast dough with contemporary home cooking. These buns are light, slightly sweet, and incredibly soft, making them perfect not only for burgers but also for sandwiches or pulled meat fillings.
Using the Thermomix makes the process simple and reliable. The dough comes together quickly, rises beautifully, and bakes into golden, sesame-topped buns with a soft crumb and delicate crust. This is a foolproof Thermomix burger bun recipe, perfect for both beginners and experienced home bakers.

How to Make Burger Buns in the Thermomix – Step by Step
Prepare the dough
- Place all dough ingredients into the Thermomix mixing bowl: flour, yeast, warm milk, egg, olive oil, sugar, and salt.Knead 3 min / Thermomix dough mode (Interval). The dough should be soft, elastic, and slightly sticky.
First rise
- Leave the dough in the mixing bowl or transfer it to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, until visibly puffy.
Shape the buns
- After rising, gently deflate the dough by pressing it down on a lightly floured surface to release excess air. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a smooth ball.Lightly flatten each bun with your hand — this helps achieve the perfect burger bun shape.
Second rise
- Place the shaped buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely and let them rise again in a warm place for about 40 minutes, until nicely puffed.
Brush and top
- Before baking, brush the buns with milk.Tip: To prevent the sesame seeds from falling off, mix them directly into the milk and brush the buns with this mixture.Sprinkle (or brush on) sesame seeds evenly over the buns.
Bake
- Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 170°C / 340°F for 15 minutes, until lightly golden and soft.Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
